I’m so happy you are thinking of having maternity portraits to capture this special time in your life. Full of love and hope for this little being to come. Maybe you would like to share the news to everyone via professional portraits. I’ve done maternity sessions at different milestones. Pregnancy announcement, gender reveal and third trimester.

I can’t choose which time is best.

Of course you can always choose all the special moments but that might be expensive for you. Why not choose the one that you are mostly likely to print and decorate your home and want to remember the most. For myself, I wanted the full big bellies to show my kids how they came to be. It might not be the most flattering but it will be the most memorable.

When is the ideal time?

I do recommend booking a session in your 7th month. Your belly will be full but you won’t be as uncomfortable as you will be in your last weeks of pregnancy. You might still be a little flexible to pose in a sitting or lying position.

So what do I need?

Not much really. If you have a look on different websites for style ideas, you will notice that not a lot of props are involved. Little booties, a u/s picture, a heirloom item, a newborn pyjama, a stuffie, etc. We can include any special item in your session. If your session is at your home, we can photograph items in the baby’s room as well.

What should I wear?

Regular maternity clothes are recommended so you feel comfortable. You can always bring different tops to switch up the colors and have more variety. Some clients wear special flowy maternity gowns as well. It really is up to you. I am always available to help if you want my opinion depending on the location we choose to have the session.

I don’t want to have my session at home.

You don’t have to. Most of my maternity sessions are on location in my area. For example, in a park, at the marina docks, in the forest, etc. If you can’t decide where to go why not do both. We will have one hour together. That gives us time to go down the street to an outdoor spot that isn't too far. Some clients choose to have their session in their backyards. There are no rules on the location of your session. We will make them magical anywhere!

I have other kids.

Beautiful! Bring them. We can include them in some family shots. You will receive a lot of variety of poses and portraits during your session. The whole family, Mommy and siblings, Mommy and Daddy, Mommy by herself and of course lots of close ups of your beautiful belly. Portraits are so special at any time of your life or any milestones, I don’t see why not include everyone. Even if your kids are young, we will make it work and have some fun with them.
